Born and raised in New York City, Philip is a graduate of Yale College with a major in film studies, and he received his J.D. at the Benjamin N. Cardozo School of Law. While at Cardozo, Philip served as Acquisitions Editor at the Cardozo Journal of Conflict Resolution and received a certificate in Dispute Resolution.  Philip clerked for the Hon. Donald G. Collester Jr. of the Appellate Division of New Jersey.

Philip’s professional career began at Fried Frank Harris Shriver and Jacobson LLP in 2005 where he worked as a litigator on large commercial, real estate and securities litigations. He also provided pro bono legal assistance to artists through Volunteer Lawyers for the Arts.
Philip later went on to serve as staff counsel at the City of New York’s Department of Consumer Affairs, where he conducted investigations of both Department-licensed and unlicensed businesses suspected of engaging in conduct that violated the City’s licensing and consumer protection laws and rules and prosecuted businesses for such violations.  In addition, Philip negotiated and enforced settlements with these businesses to ensure compliance with those licensing and consumer protection laws.

Currently residing in Brooklyn, Philip grew up in New York City with a musical theatre historian father and mother who served as the arts editor for Newsweek. An avid soccer fan and season ticket holder for the New York Red Bulls, Philip is also a drummer and amateur boxer.
